Ich lese den Text und merke, wie heftig ich eigentlich schon das Anti-Hacker-Kool-Aid der letzten Jahre getrunken habe.
Man nehme diesen Satz hier:

Das hört sich total illegal an, aber ist es auch unmoralisch?
Man bezahlt >1.000€ für ein iPhone, ein Gerät, und dann darf man darauf nicht mal den Code ausführen, den man sich selbst ausgesucht hat? Das ist doch eigentlich das unmoralische!

Im Fall von John Deers Traktoren natürlich noch viel mehr:

when a farmer’s John Deere tractor breaks down, they are expected to repair it, swapping in new parts and assemblies to replace whatever’s malfing. But the tractor won’t recognize that new part and will not start working again, not until the farmer spends a couple hundred bucks on a service callout from an official John Deere tractor repair rep, whose only job is to type an unlock code into the tractor’s console, to initialize the part and pair it with the tractor’s main computing unit.

Man hat diese Scheiße schon so lange akzeptiert, dass einem nicht mehr klar ist, wie absurd das eigentlich ist.

Mal sehen, ob Doctorow recht behält, wenn er folgendes prophezeit:

An einer Stelle muss ich ihm leider widersprechen:

Your friends stubbornly refuse to organize their relationship with you in a way that maximizes the return to his shareholders.

Viele Menschen haben ihre Kommunikation rein auf whatsapp oder insta umgestellt und kommen da auch nicht weg. Man kann natürlich sagen, dass das keine echten Freunde sind, sonst würden sie ja versuchen, einen auf andere Art und Weise zu erreichen, aber Menschen sind auch faul und Netzwerkeffekte etc pp.

Hier noch ein catchy Slogan, den wir uns auf die Fahne schreiben können, zumindest links der SPD:

Antirez (der von redis) über Coden und wie es sich mit LLMs verändert hat. Ich denke, er zeigt den wichtigsten Punkt auf: Wir dürfen diese Werkzeuge nicht in den Händen weniger Privatwirtschaflticher Player lassen. Und: Coden macht auch mit LLMs noch Spaß und die Erzeugnisse sind nicht weniger wert.
